Community MinistriesWe at New Creation are grateful for the opportunity to be of service to the community at large. Many members participate in different ministries as individuals. Whether it is helping to provide food for the poor, homeless, disenfranchised or being active in the fight for justice the members of New Creation are committed to being part of the Kingdom of God. As a congregation, we continue this commitment to serve, not only to the community but to our church. The following are a few of the ministries that we participate in as a congregation. Bears and Hares in ChairsWith the Bears and Hares in Chairs ministries we support agencies in Western North Carolina that provide support to neglected or abused children. Several times a year, the congregation collects stuffed animals and brings them to church over the course of several weeks. During this time, the congregation is encouraged to hold the animals and to say a prayer for justice for children and a prayer of hope for the child that will eventually receive the stuffed animal. Agencies that have received the stuffed animals have stated that the gift of the stuffed animals has been a blessing for many children that have received the stuffed animals. For many of the children, these stuffed animals represent a listening ear, a source of unconditional love, and an avenue of hope. It allows the congregation to send prayers of love, to send blessings of safety, and to put into action our core Christian beliefs for hope and justice for all people. Fan DrivePrior to summer the congregation collects and donates fans to local agencies for distribution or directly to persons who do not meet government criteria for receiving fans or other assistance with the summer heat. Loving Food ResourcesWe at New Creation are proud to support this community ministry. The mission of Loving Food Resources is to provide food and personal care items to persons living with HIV/AIDS or who are receiving home hospice care in Western North Carolina. Most of the food is made available each week through partnership with Manna Food Bank and is delivered to those who need it.
